Dish Network Internet & HughesNet

Do you already subscribe to Dish Network’s satellite television service and are considering adding broadband internet service to your plan?  Or have you moved and are looking to bundle multiple services like phone, high speed internet, and television to get a lower rate overall?  Like its competitor, DirecTV, Dish Network has a number of partnerships with phone and dial-up, satellite, or DSL internet service providers such as Verizon, Qwest, CenturyLink, Clear, Cincinnati Bell, Windstream, AT&T, TDS Telecom, Frontier Communications Solutions, and others.

I need rural internet access.  Does Dish Network have a solution for my family or business?

Until relatively recently, people who lived in regions of the country that did not receive cable-based telephone and television service were unable to have access to the internet.  However, satellite internet from Dish Network (or DirecTV, VSAT, HughesNet, or other providers) has made it possible to get online almost anywhere. Dish Network’s satellite internet partner is WildBlue; so Dish Network does have an option for residents of rural areas.

I want to add satellite internet to my Dish Network satellite TV service.  Can I use the same satellite dish for both services?

The equipment that makes your satellite television connection work is different from the equipment needed for satellite internet.  You will need to add another satellite dish as well as a satellite modem, both of which will require some degree of start-up cost.  To ensure that you get an unobstructed satellite dish line of sight and, by extension, the best connection possible, you may also want to consider having your equipment professionally installed. 

Is Dish Network internet available in my area?

Exact availability depends on your location.  Some areas may only be able to receive satellite or dial-up connections whereas others may have multiple options open to them.  The price of internet service will also be contingent on availability so check with Dish Network to see what types of internet service are offered in your area. 

What are the benefits of having both Dish Network television and internet service?

Linking your television and internet service has a few advantages.  With an internet connection, you can immediately view numerous television shows and movies on your TV.   Another advantage of bundling these services from Dish Network is the possibility of managing your DVR from your smart phone or computer; in fact, you can use your iPad or iPhone as a controller.  In addition, you can schedule recordings and make changes to existing recordings.
